Man in his knowledge lacks wisdom. This wisdom is God in us, the inner voice which ought and suppose to make a choice which of course ought to be towards he holiness of life. If we believe in that, then faith comes into play knowing full well that we are not in any way to do whatever we wished to do if not guided by the Spirit of God which the spiritual cum moral LCF is seen from Wisdom literature: Do not blame God for the want of it; learn to shun the deeds God hates. Do not complain that it was he led thee into false paths; what need has God, thinkest thou, of rebels? No foul misdeed there is but God hates it; there is no loving it and fearing him.  When men first came to be, it was God made them, and, making them, left them to the arbitrament of their own wills; yet giving them commandments to be their rule. Those commandments if thou wilt observe, they in their turn shall preserve thee, and give thee warrant of his favour. It is as though he offered thee fire and water, bidding thee take which thou wouldst; life and death, blessing and curse, man finds set before him, and the gift given thee shall be the choice thou makest; so wise God is, so constraining his power, so incessant the watch he keeps over mankind. If we still believe strongly in the life after life and in eternity with God, for us to attain this we must listen to the Holy Word of God, discede ab iniquo, et deficient mala abs te-Keep away from wrongdoing and it will leave you alone Sirach 7:2. In this ambient the whole thing rest solely on ourselves as individuals. The choice of self control and continence is a sine qua non and a way towards overcoming this spiritual cum moral cancer, the avoidance of occasions of sin, the move for sincere and true friendship which is deeply rooted in genuine love and not sexual intercourse, even in legally and licitly married life we ought and should be conscious of the guilt. The use of electronics, internets, phone-sex messing up cum cyber-technology for promiscuity or sexual gratification or orgies or something of the kind even in private alone with yourself, ought and should be a thing to be redirected and oriented towards growing in holiness. The issue of modesty in dress, talk or chatting should be held in high esteem and know that is a value of human person and integrity that usher us into healthy relationship with others which helps us attain heaven because we trust, hope and believe that our hearts will not rest until it rests on the Lord as said by St. Augustine. Therefore, immodesty in dress the Lord said: καὶ διῆλθον διὰ σοῦ καὶ εἶδόν σε καὶ ἰδοὺ καιρός σου καιρὸς καταλυόντων καὶ διεπέτασα τὰς πτέρυγάς μου ἐπὶ σὲ καὶ ἐκάλυψα τὴν ἀσχημοσύνην σου καὶ ὤμοσά σοι καὶ εἰσῆλθον ἐν διαθήκῃ μετὰ σοῦ λέγει κύριος καὶ ἐγένου μοι-Et transivi per te, et vidi te: et ecce tempus tuum, tempus amantium: et expandi amictum meum super te, et operui ignominiam tuam: et juravi tibi, et ingressus sum pactum tecum, ait Dominus Deus, et facta es mihi-You grew up and became tall and were becoming of marriageable age. The man unfaithful to the marriage be who thinks like this, “Who sees me? Darkness surrounds me, the wall hide me; nobody can see me. Why should I worry (the choice of heart)? The Almighty will not take note of my faults (obstinacy in sin).” He fears the scrutiny of men and does not realize (sinfulness through hardness of heart) that the Lord’s eyes are a thousand times brighter than sun, that they watch the conduct of all men and penetrate into the most secret corners Sirach 23:13, 15-19. Brethren, let us humble before God and with the Psalmist pray: ἐγὼ εἶπα κύριε ἐλέησόν με ἴασαι τὴν ψυχήν μου ὅτι ἥμαρτόν σοι-Domine, miserere mei;
sana animam meam, quia peccavi tibi-Lord have mercy on me, is my prayer; bring healing to a soul that has sinned against thee

The resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, gives joy to humanity, hence let us rejoice and give glorious thanks to him. The day is dawn with clarity of the atmosphere, this is exactly what resurrection brings to us. The Anastasia of the Lord cleared every heart that is obscure leaving the radiant light of paschal as an indelible character of his mysterious presence. The galaxy and celestial elements are very clear and immaculate because the Giver of life has destroyed  death and darkness has no more portion before him. The Paschal Candle is glowing, replenishing the luminous character and radiating once again the joy which was liturgically incubated during the Quadragesima culminated in the Triduum of the Holy Week. Let us greatly rejoice and sing Alleluia for the Lord is truly risen – Alleluia.

The Giver of life is asleep in death. How possible do we comprehend this super-spiritual phenomenon? It is only Him whose death breaks the chain of eternal death that can give us the spiritual comprehension of this mystery. Silence has spoken in the tranquility of the cosmos. The stillness of divine silence has given meaning and life to the cosmos. The beauty of inanimate has animated the wonders of cosmological substances. Oh Lord, your three days meeting with the underworld has brought out deliverance and joy to the earth. The joy of paschal light has broken the death of sin. The resurrection has declared life to all and animated the silence that hovered on the earth. The silence of creation with the word Bereshit cleared the chaos of dullness there in the cosmos. The silence of cosmos saw life in stillness, which like the volcanic eruption turn the dead to give them life in the tomb. Behold the silence that give meaning to the sepulcher.

Our friendship with God is a sonship relationship which we ought to manifest or show to others in relating with them. The meeting of others in our daily existence ought to be embedded with a high spiritual undertone. If this is certified very many things or mistakes which we may fall into possibly will be neglected or overlook by Him who was crucified for us on the cross for our salvation. The death of Life and Love on the cross on Good Friday calls for deep silence. Indeed silence has beclouded the earth and the divine tranquility has whistled like a breeze of Mount Horeb; soon the drama of Gethsemane, liturgically resound on and from the cross the Words of Spiritual attention: Father forgive them for they know not what are they are doing Lk. 23: 34; Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani? My God , My God, why have you forsaken me? Matt. 27: 46; Mk. 15: 34; Truly I said unto you today you will be with me in Paradise Lk. 23: 43; Woman behold your son Jn. 19: 26; Behold your mother Jn. 19: 27; I am thirsty Jn. 19: 28; It is finished Jn. 19: 30; Father into your hands I commend my spirit Lk. 23: 46. Therefore, the Lord’s commendation of his spirit to the Eternal Father brought about the earthquake and the curtain tearing from top to bottom. Like Peter exclaimed with surprise at the epiphany of Transfiguration, today because of the divine character of epiphany in his death, the centurion exclaimed too: Indeed, this man is the Son of God Mk. 15: 39. Like Peter let us always with respect said: Depart from me Lord for I am a sinful man Lk. 5: 8, but yet as well said: Heal my soul for I have sinned against you Ps. 41: 5. In silence, Christ taught us that the liturgy of our life and existence speaks loud and overtly too for sincere repentance. Oh Lord may I always remain silent before you in your house so that my soul and heart may meditate profoundly of your goodness to me. In this silence death meets with the darkness as to have life as the Giver of life, who hung on the cross to break our relationship with the devil and bless with compassion and salvation

THE GIFT OF PRIESTHOOD TO AN UNWORHTY SERVANT PAUL IKECHUKWU OGUJIOFFOR- HOLY THURSDAY REFLECTION 28-03-2013

On this day Holy Thursday I remember with joy the greatest and highest gift which the Lord gave to me. This is a special day for me, a memorial day for the institution of the priesthood which Christ gave as a mystery of His memorable continuity of salvation to humanity and the world in general. The liturgical celebrations which started with the Liturgy of the Hours, then the Chrism Mass which I concelebrated with Giuseppe Cardinale Bertoni at Duomo Santa Maria di Fiori Firenze and culminated with the Celebration of Last Supper at Parrocchia SS. Quirico e Giulitta Capalle-Firenze, all make me terrify and put before me with deep thought of my nothingness and unworthiness as a minister of this mysterious Sacrament. What am I Lord that You found me worthy and fit to touch always and more so represent You in your Victim-Love, Oblation-Love, Sacrificial-Love, Compassion-Love, Healing-Love, Nourishing-Love and Incarnate-Love, in this Sacrament of your God-Man Presence? In this mysterious celebration which I share and participate in celebrating though unworthy as I am, your Presence is incarnated in the words and actions, hence I am beclouded in your Divinity and found myself very sinful cooperating within your operation and epiphany in the nature which is your Ipsum Esse Christus Sacerdos in Aeternum. The mystery of the priesthood which is inseparable with the Holy Eucharist is properly Divine-Love manifestation which I celebrate in Christ, with Christ and for Christ under the maternal care and direction of the Church, introduce silence in me and brings deep shame to me when I see the saintly faithful people who are better than me coming for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Oh Lord you are the Person that forgives, please pardon me for the many times which I have celebrated this Sacrament of Love with insensitivity and insensibility. Very many times I have abandoned you in the Most Blessed Sacrament in the Tabernacle forgetting my priestly function without giving you respect, Oh Lord Jesus have mercy on me. Your immeasurable love have been trampled by me and scandalize very many, please forgive me, that the privilege you granted me as a priest may be enjoyed in a most fruitful way by your faithful followers whom I serve. Washing the Apostles’ feet, you preached, taught and lived concretely your mission on earth as a slave to your creatures because of your Divine kenosis. How often do I sincerely and humbly show the Divine kenosis to people who I was ordained for? Lord give me  your spirit that I may always find joy in serving rather than to be served.

Each moment in life is precious and ought to be utilized to the utmost supremacy as a moment that is actually and obviously an eternal-now. What is so special and particular about the week so called Holy with suffix or prefix? Are others not holy in themselves? If it has this prefix HOLY  which means that probably I as a person if I had not been so conscious of other weeks which were intrinsically holy, I ought and should be aware of this Holy Week, through the annual Liturgical giggling of the Season, because of probably of my insensitivity or insensibility of what actually I am demanded of this time. Therefore, what fruit or new thing can I boast of, from and in my life regarding the Holy Week?  

God invites us in each moment of our lives to share in his means of salvation through embracing the Cross with joy and fortitude, hence the prophets made clear the Word of God encouraging us all to do the same, cfr. Isa. 50: 4-7. Christ gave us an example to follow if we really wish to maintain our Christian life. There is need of kenosis in our individual lives daily as seen in Phil. 2: 6-11, that is why individually we have to ask ourselves questions regarding what we read in LK. 22: 14-23, 56. What actions do I (N………………….) perform as the names or characters that appeared in the passage of the Passion narratives? As Peter, how many times do I deny Jesus each day through my sin of obstinacy, even with the conscious warning-ringing-bell every moment to my ears? Why do I presume to be a Christian when actually the moments of Faith manifestations I strong say, “I do not know Him (CHRIST)” because of some worldly pleasures that come my way? As Judas, why do I use divine gesture of love (kiss) to turn it into a mortal way of perdition because of those that I give it in a most sinful manner? As Herod or Pilate for power tussle or fame, why do I consciously and conscientiously deny the known Truth, thereby entering into the one of the sins against the Holy Spirit, even when the Truth speaks concretely before me? As a member of the mob group, why do I follow the unreasonable group always denying my baptismal promises and entering into modernism because I want to belong in the society that abhors the spiritual cum moral probity as not to be labeled as “you are of old stuff”? Let us stop and meditate a bit over these things and then like Peter and the women of Jerusalem weep for our sins and make sincere effort of contrition over them and go to Christ who despite our deliberate committing of sin yet prays Father forgive them for they know not what they are doing. In this situation and case we know exactly what we are doing, ipso facto let us run to him through the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession) and lay bare our lives to him as to receive his pardon, because we need the virtue of humility as to accept our shortcoming because the Prov. 24: 16 made it and we needed the grace of God to read and appreciate the truth therein in 1 Jn. 1: 8-10. 2: 1-3.

γνοὺς δὲ Αυναν ὅτι οὐκ αὐτῷ ἔσται τὸ σπέρμα ἐγίνετο ὅταν εἰσήρχετο πρὸς τὴν γυναῖκα τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτοῦ ἐξέχεεν ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν τοῦ μὴ δοῦναι σπέρμα τῷ ἀδελφῷ αὐτοῦ. πονηρὸν δὲ ἐφάνη ἐναντίον τοῦ θεοῦ ὅτι ἐποίησεν τοῦτο καὶ ἐθανάτωσεν καὶ τοῦτον-Ille sciens non sibi nasci filios, introiens ad uxorem fratris sui, semen fundebat in terram, ne liberi fratris nomine nascerentur. Et idcirco percussit eum Dominus, quod rem detestabilem faceret.-He knowing that the children should not be his, when he went in to his brother's wife, he spilled his seed upon the ground, lest children should be born in his brother's name. And therefore the Lord slew him, because he did a detestable thing.” Gen.38: 9-10.

A conscious knowledge and deliberate act is always and ought to be embraced with the due repercussions. The so called “enjoyment of and in love” by both men and women, boys and girls and youths is a perennial and cancerous spiritual and moral debasement that graduates to onanism in our daily lives regarding our hyper cum superlative lack and adamant refusal to accept the reality of our super-technological spiritual ignorance. When two partners (who are not legitimately and licitly married) agree to have intimacy, which is of course is sinful outside wedlock, why then must one or both partner/s insist on pouring out the semen? Whoever that initiates the idea before or during the intercourse is gravely culpable of onanism, though both share in the guilt, basing on the issue of consent of the immoral and abominable act, unless one party is hypnotized or drugged before the act, which implies that he or she is free of the guilt. An initial or remote preparation which both or either of the party engaged himself or herself makes him/her conscious of the act of onanism, hence it is always good for one to be aware of his//her act and the gravity afterwards. If it is properly an enjoyment of and in love as we always say, why should we not accept or welcome the full acts and the result of the act? As many times as we involve in the sin of ononism, the anger and justice of God rests on us, so let us avoid had I known of tomorrow as not to incur the retributive punishment on ourselves tomorrow and turn to blame God or your partner, thereby running into prayer houses and fortune-tellers expecting to hear the cry of a baby or see a child which we have deliberately rejected when we were still ripe, fertile and potent in the name of illicit friendship base on promiscuity. Let us pray always for and with those who find themselves in such spiritual, moral, social and pathological mess with the words of the Psalmist: ἐὰν ἀνομίας παρατηρήσῃ κύριε κύριε τίς ὑποστήσεται. ὅτι παρὰ σοὶ ὁ ἱλασμός ἐστιν-Si iniquitates observaveris, Domine, Domine, quis sustinebit?Quia apud te propitiatio est; et propter legem tuam sustinui te, Domine. Sustinuit anima mea in verbo ejus-If thou, Lord, wilt keep record of our iniquities, Lord, who has strength to bear it? Ah, but with thee there is forgiveness; be thy name ever revered Ps. 130: 3-4. Therefore, ἐγὼ εἶπα κύριε ἐλέησόν με ἴασαι τὴν ψυχήν μου ὅτι ἥμαρτόν σοι.-Ego dixi: Domine, miserere mei; sana animam meam, quia peccavi tibi.-Lord have mercy on me, is my prayer; bring healing to a soul that has sinned against thee Ps. 41: 5.
